Looking for a good map for a DC walking tour? We’ve posted a few freebies from “A National Jaunt,” the award-winning walking guide to D.C. by Ken Wilcox. The book contains all the directions and details for more than 90 miles of walks and hikes, including 37 maps and 390 photos.

The maps below are high resolution in PDF format for mobile-friendly viewing and zooming. They show the general location of major points of interest for each tour, as well as nearby Metro stations. We think these are among the best walking routes in Washington, D.C.

As an avid hiker and traveler, the author has walked them all (many times over) to identify the most rewarding routes for fellow footsters and travelers. We’ll post more free walking maps soon, so check back often! They’re grouped as follows:

Mallard ducks at Constitution Gardens
Mallard ducks and Washington Monument at Constitution Gardens on the National Mall.

National Mall Walking Tours

Our West Loop map below offers a perfect walking route to catch everything from Washington Monument to Lincoln Memorial. Allow two to three hours (or more!) to take it all in.

DC Mural Walks

Murals are popping up all over the District and we’ve laid out a couple of good walking routes that, for convenience, start and end at Metro stations. Click the map image for a two to three-mile mural trek in the U Street area.
